Blue Plaque Unveiled For Gladys Morgan
A Blue Plaque was unveiled in Worthing on Tuesday 11th December to celebrate the Welsh Queen of Laughter, Gladys Morgan. A large crowd including members of the Max Miller Appreciation Society , the Worthing Society, the local media and British Music Hall Society members heard speeches from President Roy Hudd, Vice President Wyn Calvin, Call Boy Editor Geoff Bowden, Worthing Society Chairman David Sumner and the Mayor of Worthing, Charles James before Gladys’s daughter, Joan Laurie, unveiled the plaque. The plaque is displayed on 30, Salisbury Road, Worthing where Gladys lived from 1958 until her death in 1983. A more detailed report of the day will appear in the next Call Boy due out in January.
