“Good Old Days” on Sunday 1st May



A 1972 edition of The Good Old Days will be screened on BBC4 on Sunday 1st May at 7pm. Originally broadcast on 16th April 1972, the show will feature Eartha Kitt, Arthur Askey, Eira Heath, Neville King, Larry Parker, The Barrie Brothers, The Macardis and Terry Lightfoot And His Band

Players’Theatre Club Summer Party

Summer flyerThe Players’ Theatre Club invites BMHS members to their Summer Party at the Royal Air Force club (128 Piccadilly) on Friday July 15th. Being the day after ‘Bastille day’, the show will have a strong French element, including Can Can dancers, and some popular French songs. 
Artistes include Peter John, as the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo. He combines with Julia Sutton, loving Paris in the Springtime and their first meeting (Ah Yes – he remembers it well!)
There is also Martin Milnes ‘the ambivocalist’,;Lola McDowell – the  Pearly queen; Katherine Rhodes – magic and mind reading; and Courtney Kenny who sings of Napoleon and Josephine.
Clive Greenwood will be in the chair, and David Wykes will provide the orchestra. 
The music hall show will be in two halves, on either side of a supper consisting of Salmon Mayonnaise, and Oraange Crème Brûlée, petits fours and coffee.
Assemble at 6.30 first half starts at 7.00 and the event closes around 10.15.

We’re Still Here at the Barn Theatre Southwick

Sheila Mathews and Antonia Pemberton will be appearing at the Barn Theatre, 24, Southwick Street, Southwick, Brighton, East Sussex, BN42 4TE  on Monday 18th April in We’re Still Here, an evening of poetry, play extracts and theatrical memories of their long careers on the stage. Doors open 7.30pm The show is at 8pm.

Panto Returns To London Palladium


Pantomime returns to the London Palladium for the first time in 29 years when Cinderella opens at the venue on 9th December 2016. It will run until 5th January 2017. Casting is yet to be announced.

Palladium Show Returns To ITV


A new series of variety shows, Tonight At the London Palladium, starts on ITV at 8pm on Wednesday 13th April. There will be 8 shows in total and in the first one compere Bradley Walsh will introduce  tenor Andrea Bocelli, comedian Tommy Tiernan; the cast of the West End musical Motown and a daring speciality act of motorcycle stuntriders.

Remembering June Bronhill

The Australian entertainer June Bronhill will be remembered at the next meeting of the British Music Hall Society’s Study Group on Thursday 14th April at 7.45pm at the Club For Acts and Actors, 20, Bedford Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9HP
