Max Miller Appreciation Society – 3 Events At Palace Pier Brighton in June
ONE DAY AT THE SEASIDE IS FUN!!!….THREE DAYS AT THE SEASIDE IN BRIGHTON IS…..A SUMMER HOLIDAY!!!
And that is what the lively Max Miller Appreciation Society is offering on three consecutive Wednesdays in June on the city’s famous Palace Pier. A way to celebrate the Cheeky Chappie’s life in Brighton and on the variety stage.
June 14th, Victoria’s Bar: Radio 2 broadcaster, John Henty recalls the amazing night he presented Spike Milligan performing stand-up comedy on the pier. Hear the actual broadcast and enjoy more of Spike’s surreal humour on record plus live music.
June 21st, Victoria’s Bar: ‘They Appeared On The Pier’ – Gerry Oxley’s potted peek at the history of the Palace Pier theatre and the performers and personalities who entertained there. Vintage clips of Sandy Powell, Elsie and Doris Waters and other variety veterans who shared the bill.
June 28th: An all day celebration of Max in words and music from 10.00am. Max look-a-likes, a mystery unveiling, mile-high magic plus fish and chips lunch and afternoon show starring Christopher Green as Ida Barr plus support.
Afternoon presentations in aid of local charities open to everyone, 2.30pm, £5 on the door, £10 on 28th.
